Aims

The principle of the Department is to provide an intellectually stimulating, enjoyable and coherent course of study for all students. This will:

• encourage enthusiasm and enjoyment of the study of Biology

• encourage and develop a body of biological knowledge that can be directly or indirectly applied to real life situations

• encourage an awareness of the social, technological, economic and environmental aspects of Biology

• develop a healthy respect for all living things

• develop an understanding of scientific method and its application

• develop competent, safe practical skills

• ensure that each pupil achieves to his or her full academic potential
