Nobel Prize Winner visits BMS
Dr Tim Hunt is Principal Scientist at Cancer Research U.K. In 2001, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded jointly to Tim, Leland Hartwell and Paul Nurse for their discoveries of key regulators of the cell cycle.
Using genetic and biochemical methods, they identified the molecules CDK and cyclin that control the cell cycle in eukaryotic organisms. These fundamental discoveries have a profound impact on many aspects of biology and medicine. Their findings may in the long term open up new possibilities for cancer therapy.
Tim was invited to talk about his work at the Haileybury Group Meeting for Biologists, which was held at BMS on Friday 17th October. Pictured with Tim (right) is Jeff Shipway, our Head of Biology.
