Our philosophy

In recent years, Biology has become the fastest developing science. Increasingly, whether from the media or life situations, Biology impinges on our lives all around us. Therefore, we consider it vital for every pupil at Bedford Modern School to gain a solid biological background in order to make better-informed judgements that could affect his or her immediate and long-term future. The Biology Department is a forward looking and successful unit within Bedford Modern School.

The Biology Department is located at the rear of the main School building and consists of five purpose built laboratories, a prep room, a greenhouse and an office. The Department is well equipped for its teaching needs and resources are constantly being added to and updated. The teaching is shared by six specialist Biology teachers and we also have a full time laboratory technician. The atmosphere is one of friendly, purposeful support for the pupils.
